HX Stomp Preset | GK Amp

I created this preset as part of my series called 'Basslines I Love and Why' for the track ‘Boogie Nights / All Night - Live’ by Erykah Badu.

I created 'GK Amp' as a simple preset for the HX Stomp to get my bass sound closer to guys like Hubert Eaves IV, Kenneth "Kaybass" Diggs, Justin Raines, Tony Russell, Joe Cleveland, etc.

Basically every Gallien Krueger artist. Haha.

Of course they all have a unique quality to them, but their sound has a common ground. They play active or passive 5-string basses like a Fender Jazz Bass or something like an MTD and they use Gallien Krueger amps (or similarly voiced amp brands). This combination produces a super clean, crisp, and cutting-through-the-mix sound. Listen to the 1997 Erykah Badu Live album and you know what I mean. ‘GK Amp’ is designed to push your sound in that direction. These players I mentioned earlier don't need much — just a solid main bass sound. They don't use a lot of effects, so I just added a nice boost and reverb to the preset to stay close to the needs of these players. Use the reverb to create a vibe when playing chords or a sweet solo bass piece. It sounds great with any type of bass, especially with jazz and active 5-string basses (Mainly the basses used by all these players).
