HX Stomp Preset | Phunk Phaser

I created this preset as part of my series called 'Basslines I Love and Why' for the track 'Look At Me' by Cory Wong and Allen Stone.

I watched the episode of Cory Wong’s “On The One” for this track, and one thing in particular stuck in my mind. They created a bus for the bass signal with some distortion and a subtle phaser on it. This was new to me, and I immediately created a preset on the HX Stomp to approximate this trick.

I used a crossover split to keep the low-end intact. The high-end of the signal goes through the phaser path, which makes the bass sound wider and more present in the mix. It's very subtle, and the phaser effect per se might not be audible in a mix. To make the preset more fun and the phaser effect more audible, I added some options, including the snapshot function, a compressor, and an amp that sounded right for the track.
